Ms. Robertson passed away this December and we dedicated this program in honor of her long-time service to the library and the Friends of the Library group. Ms. Robertson was a retired librarian and founding member of the Friends group. She served as president from the early 1980s until 1996. During her tenure she supported many children’s programs. In creating this award, the Friends decided to build on her endeavor to encourage children not only to read but to read thoughtfully, and thus created the prize for book reviews written by children. The contest has generated many wonderful children’s book reviews over the years from many local students and library patrons.
